Touring the Rumney Marsh Restoration Areas
Join Rumney Marsh Conservancy for a guided walk exploring past and future restoration efforts along the abandoned I-95 embankment at Rumney Marsh Reservation.
The tour will be led by Ed Reiner, a retired EPA wetland scientist who spent decades studying Rumney Marsh and authored a detailed analysis of the embankment’s environmental impacts and opportunities for further restoration.
Along the route, we’ll visit completed restoration areas, discuss what these projects have accomplished, and examine locations where additional work could restore tidal flow and improve the marsh. No prior knowledge is needed.
NOTE: This walk starts at the BRISTOW ST entrance, located at 114 Bristow Street in Saugus. Ample parking is available in the gravel lot.

Location: Rumney Marsh Reservation, BRISTOW ST ENTRANCE. Park at 114 Bristow Street at the corner of Eastern Avenue. We will meet in the gravel parking lot.
Cost: Free, registration requested
Please wear sturdy, comfortable walking shoes and consider bringing water, sun protection, and bug spray. The walk will cover approximately two miles along the embankment trail. Space may be limited, so registration is requested.
